About us
In the year 2007 the first group of students was received by Todd Weinstein in New York to attend the Street Photography Workshop. This was the start of a long tradition celebrating its 17th anniversary in 2024.
Being in touch with NY professionals:
The Photography Workshops in New York City with Todd Weinstein and Thomas Keller give students the chance to meet many successful New York-based photographers, graphic designers, and artists working in both the commercial and fine arts world. We visit museums, schools, and companies working in new media. It gives the students a glimpse into a realm that the university is preparing them to enter. We also encourage the students to work on a project of their own.
During the workshops, Todd shares the teachings of his mentor and teacher, the Master Photographer Ernst Haas. Todd assisted in many of Ernst’s workshops from 1972 up until 1986 when he passed away. To “Dream with Open Eyes”, as Ernst would say, is the spirit we share with every student. The workshops inspire them to try to find their own personal voice by looking inward at their own heart and interests. To begin with no plan per se but to start to create something they are passionate about.
Another important aspect of the workshop is the group as a whole. Over two hundred students have participated in the NY Workshops these past fourteen years. We feel it gives each student a chance to bond and strengthen their friendships with fellow students outside the regular classes. Eventually, it’s these friendships that will help them to develop a professional collaboration the way that we once created the Street Photography Workshops in New York.
